Kitty has a new job scanning
San Francisco Bay for any signs of trouble...
She's on the lookout for oil spills, miscreant captains, and the occasional capsized sailboat...
Kitty's boss told her to keep her eyes open for terrorists -- they hired her for her claws...

When I look at Kitty and then look at a horse,
there seems to be a vague resemblance between the two
species... Kitty's ears are quite similar, but her head is more of a pumpkin shape...
The horse has a big schnozz, and Kitty has a little schnooze...
The horse's eyes are beautiful black and beautiful black, and Kitty's eyes are
beautiful tan and beautiful earth...

And even though I don't think they will be firing-off fireworks or having an ice-cream eating contest, today
is
Earth Day, and Kitty and I wish you a happy one...
I keep saying that I wish I could take Kitty with me on all my little outings, but the danger of losing
her is too great... But I'm sure she would have enjoyed getting her paws wet in the damp sand of a fine
beach I found on Sunday... Don't know what she would have made of the dog I ran across while on that
beach, however... The critter was running free having an exceptionally good time investigating all the
smells and generally having a good time all by itself -- no owner in sight...
Only birds, clams, and a crusty photographer... Ah, bliss... Thank you Mother Earth...

Around here at Kittyland, Kitty is the one with the
bubbly personality...
(that's probably why I put three dots ... after every sentence)
But call it foam, froth, or suds -- Kitty keeps me in a pretty good lather 24/7...

Waking up with an "old-fart" like Don in his smelly underwear may not be as
glamorous as a dainty lady in all her frills -- but at this stage of her life I'm all Kitty has, and she doesn't
really seem to mind... In fact, I believe she is madly in love with me -- and yes Kitty, the feeling is mutual...

Even though numerous and bold signs proclaim our yard as Kittyland, the local
deer fall-by on a regular basis...
Yesterday I noticed this beautiful creature grazing close to the house, so even though I was shooting through a
dirty window that should have been washed four or five years ago, I think it came out pretty well...

And even though it was much to early yesterday over at San Francisco's
Conservatory of Flowers
for them to be open for visitors, I spooked around the exterior for a while and soaked up the atmosphere so I
would have something to tell Kitty about when I got home... Seems like they're always looking for
knowledgeable docents over there -- and I really didn't have Kitty's permission to do this -- but I slipped her
resume under the door and I'm hoping that the higher-ups will realize Kitty's potential... The way I see it,
every garden needs a cat...

Of course, Kitty never really gets to go anywhere with me -- someone has to stay home and hold-down the couch --
but if she HAD been with me yesterday afternoon she would have met this interesting pair of
artists on a serene trail
at delightful place nearby named China Camp... Oh, we had a great time discussing everything from
George Bush to art supply stores, and about the only thing we didn't talk about was our cats...
By the way, if you'd like to see some amazingly beautiful paintings of Marin County, check out Ray Bailey's
art at: www.raybaileysart.com...

Even though Kitty had to stay home and dream about wildflowers all by herself -- when I got home
from Chimney Rock at Point Reyes yesterday the first thing I did was tell her about the fantastic
display the Douglas Iris is putting on right now...
But her eyes started to glaze over when I began reading her a long, long list of other wildflowers in bloom
out there right now -- yarrow, sun-cups, three varieties of indian paintbrush,
field chickweed, coastal-prairie larkspur, coastal wallflower, chocolate lily, cow parsnips, goldfields, lovage,
yellow bush lupine, coastal-prairie lupine, man-root, cream cups, california buttercup,
checkerbloom, blue-eyed grass, hedge nettle, cow clover, owl's clover, and narrow-leaf mule's ears...

I'm pretty sure that a ride on a San Francisco

don't allow her species onboard -- but I think she could probably find a seat if she ever decides to get real brave,
dress like a tourist, and travel incognito...

Nobody is happier than me that Kitty hasn't murdered a
bird in years... But she has a violent and lengthy
criminal record... She used to be fast enough to catch them, but she seems to be slowing down with age --
and believe me, Kitty, I know the feeling...
And it would have been fun to take her to the beach with me
yesterday, but I thought that, as usual, she had an appointment in Dreamland...

Each Spring, on-or-around March 15, Mission San Juan Capistrano welcomes home their famous and faithful
flock of swallows,
who spend Fall and Winter in-and-around the delightful city of Goya, Argentina...
And every year about this time every fourth-grader in the State of California is bound by some kind of
state education mandate to study the colorful and historic Missions of California -- doing reports and constructing
a model of the mission of their choosing -- we have a total of 21 missions here in California...
And of course, as you know, Kitty is in the fourth grade this year, and her styrofoam and carbroard
mission model is nearing completion -- a thing of beauty and creativity...
I'm afraid however, she has bogged down on her mission report to the point of hopelessness...
I've been helping her as much as her teacher will allow, but I'm probably
just confusing the issue by bringing home oddities such as blue geese on the ends of fruit boxes -- supposedly from
Capistrano... As any fourth grader worth his or her salt can tell you, a
blue goose is a bunch of advertising non-sense...

Being the consummate nature lover
that she is, Kitty probably knows both the botanical and common name for this beautiful flower (I found it inside
Marin County Civic Center), but so far I haven't been able to coax any information out of her... Looks
like it's in the Calla Lilly family, but it sure is an oddball -- just like our little family here at Kittyland...

Yesterday I was spooking around the Marin County Civic Center and spotted these two
birds in the patio area
out by the fountain and pool, and beneath the towering golden spire that was designed by the master of architecture
himself -- Frank Lloyd Wright... And although I don't know who fabricated these ostriches, the artist
gave them a job -- full time employment, so to speak -- of beautifying and giving the area some character...
Not that the Marin County Civic Center doesn't have enough character and beauty on it's own, but these birds
definitely add something...

I'm not exactly sure which is whispier,
whispy clouds or whispy Kitty...
Kitty likes to get me up early so she can get a little bit of food and head back to bed...
She uses a variety of tecniques for rousing-me-from-the-dead... And the method I most enjoy
is a soft wet kiss on my nose -- while my least favorite method is a bite on the elbow...
This morning she gave me a whispy fop on the head with her tail, and I'm pretty sure it was no
accident... Oh cats, you never know what they're going to come up with next...

Yesterday afternoon, after all was said and done, I got a brilliant idea... Why not take a short cruise to the
top of the hill, Mount Tamalpais, and soak up the sunset...
And although the sunset proved to be slightly lack-luster, I did find this
lupine wildflower standing tall,
enjoying the afternoon, as I certainly was, too...
side note: When I get to heaven [ ? ? ? ] I'm pretty sure "the big guy" is going to admonish me
for a lifetime of the "over-and-misuse-of-commas", "three-dots-after-every-sentence", "creative-spelling" and various other grammar violations committed during my lifetime...
...but getting back to the story: You see, here's the problem -- all this time I've been thinking
that Kitty was the most beautiful thing on this earth -- but now I've fallen in love with lupine wildflowers...
I'm not sure how I'm going to keep this new-found love a secret from Kitty... I hope she will eventually
understand...

the same for this bobcat...
