When I hit the magic number of 50, I realized that I no longer could decypher the
phone book and needed reading glasses... And here it is, ten years later, and reading glasses have become
a normal part of life... But even without glasses I can
clearly see the love Kitty and I share... Hope that's visible to you too...

Hey, reporter lady, that's
old news...
Everybody already knows that Don loves Kitty, and Kitty loves Don...

Even though Kitty had to stay home and dream about wildflowers all by herself -- when I got home
from Chimney Rock at Point Reyes yesterday the first thing I did was tell her about the fantastic
display the Douglas Iris is putting on right now...
But her eyes started to glaze over when I began reading her a long, long list of other wildflowers in bloom
out there right now -- yarrow, sun-cups, three varieties of indian paintbrush,
field chickweed, coastal-prairie larkspur, coastal wallflower, chocolate lily, cow parsnips, goldfields, lovage,
yellow bush lupine, coastal-prairie lupine, man-root, cream cups, california buttercup,
checkerbloom, blue-eyed grass, hedge nettle, cow clover, owl's clover, and narrow-leaf mule's ears...

I'm pretty sure that a ride on a San Francisco
cable car would be much too frightening for Kitty, and I'm almost certain they
don't allow her species onboard -- but I think she could probably find a seat if she ever decides to get real brave,
dress like a tourist, and travel incognito...

Nobody is happier than me that Kitty hasn't murdered a
bird in years... But she has a violent and lengthy
criminal record... She used to be fast enough to catch them, but she seems to be slowing down with age --
and believe me, Kitty, I know the feeling...
And it would have been fun to take her to the beach with me
yesterday, but I thought that, as usual, she had an appointment in Dreamland...

Each Spring, on-or-around March 15, Mission San Juan Capistrano welcomes home their famous and faithful
flock of swallows,
who spend Fall and Winter in-and-around the delightful city of Goya, Argentina...
And every year about this time every fourth-grader in the State of California is bound by some kind of
state education mandate to study the colorful and historic Missions of California -- doing reports and constructing
a model of the mission of their choosing -- we have a total of 21 missions here in California...
And of course, as you know, Kitty is in the fourth grade this year, and her styrofoam and carbroard
mission model is nearing completion -- a thing of beauty and creativity...
I'm afraid however, she has bogged down on her mission report to the point of hopelessness...
I've been helping her as much as her teacher will allow, but I'm probably
just confusing the issue by bringing home oddities such as blue geese on the ends of fruit boxes -- supposedly from
Capistrano... As any fourth grader worth his or her salt can tell you, a
blue goose is a bunch of advertising non-sense...

Being the consummate nature lover
that she is, Kitty probably knows both the botanical and common name for this beautiful flower (I found it inside
Marin County Civic Center), but so far I haven't been able to coax any information out of her... Looks
like it's in the Calla Lilly family, but it sure is an oddball -- just like our little family here at Kittyland...

Yesterday I was spooking around the Marin County Civic Center and spotted these two
birds in the patio area
out by the fountain and pool, and beneath the towering golden spire that was designed by the master of architecture
himself -- Frank Lloyd Wright... And although I don't know who fabricated these ostriches, the artist
gave them a job -- full time employment, so to speak -- of beautifying and giving the area some character...
Not that the Marin County Civic Center doesn't have enough character and beauty on it's own, but these birds
definitely add something...

I'm not exactly sure which is whispier,
whispy clouds or whispy Kitty...
Kitty likes to get me up early so she can get a little bit of food and head back to bed...
She uses a variety of tecniques for rousing-me-from-the-dead... And the method I most enjoy
is a soft wet kiss on my nose -- while my least favorite method is a bite on the elbow...
This morning she gave me a whispy fop on the head with her tail, and I'm pretty sure it was no
accident... Oh cats, you never know what they're going to come up with next...

No, Kitty never gets to go anywhere with me, but when I got home yesterday I had to tell her all about it...

Yesterday afternoon, after all was said and done, I got a brilliant idea... Why not take a short cruise to the
top of the hill, Mount Tamalpais, and soak up the sunset...
And although the sunset proved to be slightly lack-luster, I did find this
lupine wildflower standing tall,
enjoying the afternoon, as I certainly was, too...
side note: When I get to heaven [ ? ? ? ] I'm pretty sure "the big guy" is going to admonish me
for a lifetime of the "over-and-misuse-of-commas", "three-dots-after-every-sentence", "creative-spelling" and various other grammar violations committed during my lifetime...
...but getting back to the story: You see, here's the problem -- all this time I've been thinking
that Kitty was the most beautiful thing on this earth -- but now I've fallen in love with lupine wildflowers...
I'm not sure how I'm going to keep this new-found love a secret from Kitty... I hope she will eventually
understand...

Kitty is still as saucy as a Spring-chicken, but she is getting up there in age and
slowing down a bit... For years she would bring me presents of unfortunate mice and
birds that she would catch, bring inside, and proceed to rip apart on the
bathroom floor... These days Kitty gets all her food catered and served -- not quite
the same for this bobcat...

I've always been a card-carrying batchelor and a dedicated hermit, so
before Kitty entered my life (sounds religious doesn't it) this place I live was just a place -- not something

She is my
beacon... I no longer have any trouble finding my way home...

This morning I didn't have any new photos of Kitty, so I went looking through the files for something interesting...
I found this old shot of her wearing her colorful

But then I couldn't think of anything half-witty or cute to write about her...
And now it's four hours later and I still can't think of anything to write, so folks, I'm afraid I'm going
to have to just leave it at this...
