God forbid, but if our lawmakers ever decided that looking-really-cute needed to be made illegal, Kitty would be a  notorious criminal.

A vital piece of Kitty's original equipment is her  wind-up key,  but we have lost it so many times that I think Kitty may be deliberately hiding it...

this obsession about corn on the cob...
The true story behind how Kitty got so interested in her daily ration of corn can be traced back to a lovely and spirited British woman named Sandra.   I feel it is important to tell you that Sandra is pronounced "Saundra", even though it isn't spelled that way...   Sandra had a great British accent and a spirit for adventure, and she spent a good amount of her free time spooking around the local trails with her two dogs; Jedda and Little Bear, plus a great Black Lab named Arrow from up the street.   Anyway, Sandra loved not only to feed people, but her animals as well.   When Kitty came to live with me at the age of about 3, she came with a handwritten list of veggies that Kitty liked.   I've since lost that list, but I do remember most of it -- including bell peppers, carrots, peas and beans...   At the top of the list was corn, of course...   Kitty also came with a four-ounce jar of Blue Green Algae, but that is a story for another time...

Kitty pretty much lets me know when she is hungry, but occasionally she finds something tasty in the weed patch to chomp  on...

Kitty has a fascination with birds, and beyond being delicious, she stands in awe of their ability to overcome gravity.   Obviously, for Kitty, flight would be the ultimate heavenly reward.     eyes gazed upwards

It is a job someone must do, and Kitty really does it well...
Her job description boils down to being a warm and cuddly,
golden lump.

The official team ball at Kittyland is a simple wadded-up piece of paper.   Sometimes she bats it back to me, and other times she will amaze me with a perfect two-paw catch, but most times I just throw it and she runs and attacks.   She can play independently too, and the other day I saw her balancing the moon on her nose.

I'm afraid that Kitty is a little less human  than I make her out to be...   After all, she seems to have no goals, no aspirations, nor people-like plans...   Yet obviously she has arrived.   Perhaps she could sell tickets...

Look,  up in the sky...    Is it a bird?,   Is it a plane?,   no, it's just an unoccupied lap...   But Kitty has arrived on this planet with one mission, and one mission only...   to occupy that lap...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 23, 2007

Kitty has been trying to teach me how to wash my face by licking my mitt then rubbing my mug -- but all that seems to do on me is smear the dirt...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 22, 2007

Kitty knows that my love for her is unconditional, but it's been kind of letdown that she has never landed the contract to be the cat on the bag...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 21, 2007

Yes, Kitty, I am in Total agreement...
Tuesday  is a good day to avoid Trouble...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 20, 2007

Well, it may not be as bad as a dark-and-stormy evening, but it is a scary and unpredictable  Monday morning,  never-the-less...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 19, 2007

Our little research scientist is now devoting most of her time to the study of  curves,  but I suppose her next project will be the wheel...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 18, 2007

While on my little adventures I've often wondered if Kitty would follow along with me on a leash like a dog...   But knowing Kitty's  independent nature,  I doubt if that would work out...   I'd probably lose her for sure...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 17, 2007

Kitty goes about it quite casually, but she is a highly skilled  observer...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 16, 2007

Every year at  back-to-school  time I follow through like a good parent and try my darndest to get Kitty enrolled in one of our fine local schools...   Not an easy task...   They've toughened-up the elegibility requirements -- now the student has to say their name six times as fast as they can to qualify. Kitty uses my last name, which is Kinney...   --Now, just try saying "Kitty Kinney" six times fast and see if your tongue doesn't get slightly twisted.

Kitty, the blog animal         August 15, 2007

I don't mention this too often, but appropriately, Kitty's actual and true name is, for rather obvious reasons,  Whiskers...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 14, 2007

O.k., Kitty, your  flashers  are working just fine...   Now, try your horn...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 13, 2007

Well, Kitty knows that usually the best way to face Monday is just to tackle the day  head-on...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 12, 2007

I don't know if they actually make her buy a  ticket,   but on sunny afternoons Kitty enjoys going to the movies...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 11, 2007

That's right, Kitty...   The whole monsterous world is one  scary place !

Kitty, the blog animal         August 10, 2007

I still haven't quite figured out what she is up to, but Kitty seems to think her  disguise  will work...   I'm not quite so sure...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 9, 2007

Kitty and I decided that we needed an extra holiday to celebrate, so Kitty dressed me up in the  gorilla suit  she made me wear last Halloween...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 8, 2007

And while the rest of us spend the day running around like chickens-with-our-heads-cut-off, I can almost guarantee that Kitty will be taking a nice and long afternoon  snooze...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 7, 2007

Kitty is a nature lover, and she knows a few funny  tricks...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 6, 2007

It's early and bright on a Monday morning, and Kitty is at work taking care of business at her usual location --  someplace else...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 5, 2007

For Kitty, getting ready is easy -- just a little splash of purple and violet...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 4, 2007

Purple haze  all in my brain
Lately things just don't seem the same
Actin funny, but I dont know why
'scuse me while I kiss the sky
Purple haze all around
Don't know if Im comin up or down
Am I happy or in misery?
What ever it is, that girl put a spell on me
Help me
Help me
Oh, no, no
Hammerin
Talkin 'bout heart 'n soul
I'm talkin about hard stuff
If everbody's still around, fluff and ease, if
So far out my mind
Something's happening, something's happening
Ooo, ahhh
Ooo, {click} ahhh,
Ooo, ahhh
Ooo, ahhh, yeah!
Purple haze all in my eyes, uhh
Don't know if it's day or night
You got me blowin, blowin my mind
Is it tomorrow, or just the end of time?
Ooo
Help me
Ahh, yea-yeah, purple haze, yeah
Oh, no, oh
Oh, help me
Purple haze, tell me, baby, tell me
I can't go on like this
Purple haze
Youre makin me blow my mind...mama
Purple haze, n-no, nooo
Purple haze, no, its painful, baby...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 3, 2007

Round up  at Kittyland is more problematic than it might first appear...   You've got to get the noose tight enough so the critters don't slip out, but you don't want the snare too tight either...   That's a bit too loose, Kitty...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 2, 2007

It's fairly obvious that Kitty has a rather  different view  of things...

Kitty, the blog animal         August 1, 2007

I've always been aware and supportive of Kitty's spiritual associations...
I think she may have loosened-up and converted to the  Holy Rollers...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 31, 2007

And I'm pretty sure that the wildflowers  speak softly  to my friend Kitty...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 30, 2007

It's Monday morning again, and yes, Kitty WAS  bright-eyed  and bushy-tailed earlier this morning -- just before deciding to catch a few more z's !

Kitty, the blog animal         July 29, 2007

Kitty and I think we may have come up with the next incredibly hot-and-popular trend --  stretched ears...   We think it's wa-a-a-a-ay cool...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 28, 2007

We humans might think that everything has already been figured out, but Kitty still keeps busy figuring out the  mysteries of this world...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 27, 2007

Yeah Kitty,  the concept  has been around for quite a while, but unfortunately hate and suspicion still seems to reign supreme...   sigh...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 26, 2007

A few days ago I realized that Kitty's flea situation was getting out of control, so after flea-combing the holy-heck out of her I doused the back of her neck with Frontline®...   Not that I enjoy putting poisons on Kitty, but it's really the only way to effectively deal with the  little buggers...
The fleas are gone now, and Kitty's fur is noticeably softer -- her skin seems relaxed...   She seems much happier...   Happy enough for Spanish lessons...   "hasta luego usted pulgas de mierda"...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 25, 2007

Here at Kittyland we don't concern ourselves much with Britney, Paris, and Lindsay -- but I WAS telling Kitty that if she continued with her ways -- that of being  criminally cute,  she was headed for some serious jail time...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 24, 2007

I doubt if Kitty knows the meaning of the word  late,  but I got busy and completely forgot about Kitty BLOG...   Of course, I haven't forgotten about Kitty...   Kitty would never let anyone forget about her minimum requirements of food and love...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 23, 2007

While spooking around the old funky houseboat community of Gate 5 in Sausalito yesterday morning, I came across a black and white cat that looked amazingly like Kitty...   And then later, way out on the floating passageways between the houseboats, I discovered another very friendly black and white cat,  and then another -- this one -- on my way out... Three tuxedo cats in one spot -- what are the odds ?

Kitty, the blog animal         July 22, 2007

As I mentioned yesterday, Kitty wasn't able to join me in my Santa Cruz adventure -- but I'm pretty sure she would have followed my lead in avoiding the roller coaster...   Sea lions  bark just like dogs, so I'm not exactly sure she would have been too keen on them either...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 21, 2007

I'm terribly afraid of losing her, so Kitty never gets to go with me on any of my adventures...   I'm off to Santa Cruz this morning, but once again, Kitty has to stay home...   For her, a  small world  fits just right...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 20, 2007

Hmmm...   What's for  dinner?
Yesterday morning Kitty heard a blue-jay obnoxiously chirping up a storm nearby...   Now, Kitty hasn't hunted-down live food for a couple years, but in her younger days I'm sure she would have made a meal of that noisy bird...   No feed-lot, no slaughterhouse, no supermarket, and most importantly -- no kitchen staff required...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 19, 2007

Kitty is known for her quiet, yet astute and keen  observations,  but being completely aware of her surroundings seems to go far beyond sight...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 18, 2007

I am Kitty's slave, but only because it is obvious that in a  former life  she came to expect royal and exclusive treatment...   Kitty has made it clear that I am to carry on that tradition...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 17, 2007

That, of course, is Kitty on the right -- and I don't know the name of the  beautiful creature  on the left, but I ran across him/her yesterday in the bucolic little coastal town of Bolinas...   He/she seemed to be enjoying the sunshine -- while Kitty was at home, surely sawing logs on our couch...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 16, 2007

For being such a  non-verbal  creature, Kitty has absolutely no problem in getting her point across -- usually quite eloquently...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 15, 2007

The report is in:   With all things equal and everything up to snuff,  Kitty is exactly the same  half-a-cat  on her right as she is on her left...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 14, 2007

If you're going to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some  flowers  in your hair
If you're going to San Francisco
You're gonna meet some gentle people there

For those who come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there
In the streets of San Francisco
Gentle people with flowers in their hair

All across the nation such a strange vibration
People in motion
There's a whole generation with a new explanation
People in motion people in motion

For those who come to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there

If you come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there

...lyrics by Scott McKenzie

Kitty, the blog animal         July 13, 2007

A more  colorful and shapely  cat, I've never met...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 12, 2007

Here's the poop:   Up until two years ago Kitty never had a  litter box  -- she always went outside...   But then I got feeling sorry for her, and thought I would bring her into the world of twenty-first century plumbing -- or at least let her share a little space for her litter box in my bathroom...   --But you probably know how litter boxes are -- they're a real drag -- and I've been doing my best to switch Kitty back to going outside again...   She is doing just fine with my inconsistencies, and I've left her the option of still being able to use the litter box -- which she occasionally does...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 11, 2007

Begging for her compliance, I growled;   "we can do this the easy way, or we can do this the hard way"...   --Oh, I've never really complained about my one main role in Kitty's life -- namely, to be her own warm and soft chair -- but when it's time to get up she turns into something not dis-similar to a brand new roll of prickly  barbed wire...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 10, 2007

Yup, it's true -- I just checked -- and although they're not entirely gone, they seem to be rather  vacant...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 9, 2007

In her own mind I suppose Kitty might know where she is, but to the casual observer she is definitely  someplace else...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 8, 2007

Fresh local corn this time of year really  beats the pants off  those little frozen cobettes she usually settles for...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 7, 2007

That's  Mickey  on the left, and of course, you already know Kitty...   Mickey was my dog when I was a kid -- many, many years ago -- and his primary mission in life, besides going for walks, was to dig out of his yard and go exploring on his own...   On the other hand, Kitty doesn't need to be fenced -- and she certainly doesn't need a leash...   I'd like to think it's because her lover -- although of a different species -- is close to home...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 6, 2007

Perhaps the most amazing thing about Kitty is her coveted ability, no matter what the situation, to achieve the ultimate  degree of relaxation...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 5, 2007

I think Kitty would have liked all the pretty moving colors, but the sounds of the explosions would have scared the  holy beejeebers  out of her...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 4, 2007

As much fun as it would have been to actually take Kitty with me to see the 4th of July  fireworks,  I thought it would be much safer and sane if I left her at home and just told her all about it...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 3, 2007

To many people, fur is just a long way away...   But around here at Kittyland, Kitty makes sure we  go the extra mile  when making sure we have enough to spread around...   We'd hate to run out of hair...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 2, 2007

Kitty couldn't go, but yesterday I went to the Marin County Fair and couldn't help notice how many fair-goers were gnawing away at freshly roasted  corn-on-the-cob,   slathered in butter with a stick for a handle...   I was reminded how Kitty prefers hers raw, without butter or the stick...

Kitty, the blog animal         July 1, 2007

It's nice to be able to rely on a friend...   For  confidence  Kitty looks to me...   And sometimes I do the same...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 30, 2007

This time of year Kitty's ears perk up to hear the rustling of distant  corn.

Kitty, the blog animal         June 29, 2007

I'm not exactly sure which television station Kitty is tuned to, but I think it might be  channel 99  after the test pattern has gone out...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 28, 2007

A month ago, and it might have been two, a nice fellow wrote me to point out that I had spelled the word "bachelor" incorrectly on my info page...   And REALLY, I have been intending to fix that error, and I really appreciate the fellow pointing it out to me, but it seems to have turned into one of those little projects that never seems to get done...   And I swear -- I am going to actually get that "t" removed, some day...
I think Kitty  appreciates  my good intentions...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 27, 2007

As the world spins off into oblivion, Kitty's  eye  seems to have a firm grasp on the more humane needs of us warm blooded animals...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 26, 2007

If Kitty wants  purple,  then she shall have purple... Same goes for violet.

Kitty, the blog animal         June 25, 2007

I think the only thing on Kitty bigger than her  head  is her appetite...   But I don't think she is actually all that hungry -- it seems to be a little game she plays to see just how far I will go to cater to her every whim...   And so far she has been winning -- The score is now about 20,000 to 0...   I get the feeling that if she were to feed me something, it would be a sucker...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 24, 2007

Oh, Kitty isn't much of a  reader...   But she has a lifetime of real life experiences that have given her the type of wisdom that goes way beyond facts, figures, and the philosophy of men...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 23, 2007

Someone told me this was going to happen as Kitty got older, but these days she spends relatively little time  outside...   Oh, she still goes outside to do her "business", and she still enjoys absorbing the warmth of the sun late in the afternoon -- but other than that, she pretty much just hangs out in the house manufacturing her famous brand of "Z"'s...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 22, 2007

Watching the zeal at which Kitty dives into a piece of corn-on-the-cob reminds me of those wild  competitive eating  contest at Nathans Hot Dogs...   Go for it, Kitty!   And don't let someone slip you a dog...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 21, 2007

Beyond  eyesight,  I have the feeling that Kitty can see the true nature of things...   That just might be why she likes to spend a fair amount of her time in dark and quiet places...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 20, 2007

Shortly after Kitty arrived I discovered that  Little Miss Big Eyes  has the unique and amazing ability to change the size of her head depending on the requirements of the situation...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 19, 2007

After all these years Kitty is a  standard fixture  here at Kittyland...   She wears many hats, and has many responsibilities...   I'm just guessing, but I think one of her favorite things to do around here is to make me laugh...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 18, 2007

If  desire  is the mother-of-evolution,  I'm expecting that cats will be able to fly in another couple million years...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 17, 2007

Being the original  party animal,  it is difficult to understand why Kitty hangs out with such an unsociable old stick-in-the-mud like me...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 16, 2007

Attaching it is somewhat problematic, but Kitty is my true  guiding light...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 15, 2007

Kitty  subscribes to the theory that as things gets more blurred, they sometimes become more beautiful...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 14, 2007

Last evening -- probably as a protest for ignoring her -- Kitty flopped down on the keyboard and did a little specialized  searching  on her own...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 13, 2007

And in her spare time she scans the  sky  for any unusual activity...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 12, 2007

Kitty's  claws  might be no match for the ominous teeth of a leopard shark, but Kitty has had many hours of practice -- deftly sinking those long sharp stabbers into my flesh...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 11, 2007

Kitty prefers her Monday mornings with a little bit of warm  golden light...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 10, 2007

It is not an exaggeration to say that nothing in the vicinity of Kittyland escapes the attention of it's official guardian,  Kitty...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 9, 2007

I'm not exactly sure how many job market openings exisit for paperweights,  but for those employers who might not mind hairy papers, Kitty would be well suited for the job...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 8, 2007

Every time we bust open a new  bag of kibble  around here at Kittyland, Kitty can't resist sticking her whole head into the bag for a few seconds to get a super-concentrated whiff...  She emerges from the bag with crossed eyes -- and if she could talk I bet she would be slurring her words...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 7, 2007

After years of searching, I've finally located Kitty's  plug,  but at this point I haven't a clue whether it is intended for uploading or downloading...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 6, 2007

All Kitty needs for a true religious experience is a little piece of  corn...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 5, 2007

I assume that Kitty thinks  all dogs on leash  is a splendid idea...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 4, 2007

I'm almost certain that Kitty has me rated at the top of her list...   If that's true, our  refrigerator  is probably number two on the list...

Kitty, the blog animal         June 3, 2007

I think Kitty's official breed is that of a bi-color domestic short-hair, but for short, I just call her a black and white  tuxedo cat...   But all is not as it seems -- in bright sunlight Kitty's fur is a deep shade of reddish brown...
