cleaning up after lunch

Kitty, the blog animal         May 18, 2004

Yesterday, as I was doleing out a little pile of kibble for Kitty, I caught myself saying; "this would cost you 40 cents downtown, Kitty..."   You see, that's what my father used to say to me every time he made me a ham and cheese sandwich, or something...     Kitty cleaning up after lunch

Kitty, the blog animal         May 17, 2004

All it takes is her eyeball and the sun to be at just the right angle, and the result is an amazing and spectacular, almost psychadellic,  light-show.

Kitty, the blog animal         May 16, 2004

Kitty is pretty much in charge around here, which works out just fine, because, simply put, she is a  pretty cat.

Kitty, the blog animal         May 15, 2004

As expected, Kitty has lost her taste for the little tins of wet cat food, so we'll give it a rest for now.   A spoonful at a time was all she was getting, and she seemed to be really passionate about it at first, but now we're back to her old favorites; kibble and  corn, oh, sweet corn.

Kitty, the blog animal         May 14, 2004

Last evening Kitty and I watched the "Bootsy" episode of Leave it to Beaver.   Seems that the Beav came home to find a cat on the doorstep, and he made the mistake of feeding it, so even after Bootsy's owner located and collected her, the cat kept returning.   Ward came up with the brilliant idea of borrowing Whitey Whitney's dog to scare Bootsy off, and that worked just fine, except that Beaver fed Whitey's dog, so of course, they traded a cat problem for a dog problem.   Our own little Kitty avoids dogs like the plague.   It takes constant vigilance.     oh god, a dog

Just so we don't end up on the Dr. Phill Show with Kitty in tears and me on the defensive, I thought it wouldn't hurt me all that much if I did a little preventive work here today:   Yes, Kitty, I do love you, and I thank you for all of your little kindnesses that add a glow to my life.     loveable

Kitty, the blog animal         May 12, 2004

A sunny afternoon will find Kitty stretched out in it, soaking up the warmth just like a sponge soaking up water.     sunlight, from ear to ear

Kitty, the blog animal         May 11, 2004

Apparently, in the proper order of things, Kitty's day begins at 5AM.   The main focus of business is to get fed, and even though cat-speak has no "k's" nor "b's", the message is clearly kib-ble.   After being fed, she switches to discovery-mode;  into a  colorful world of her own design.

The lens of a camera is fully able (and ever so willing) to add unsharpness to something already fuzzy and soft, so the challenge of taking pictures of Kitty is to get something, or anything, to come out sharp and in focus.
sharp whiskers, soft cat

Kitty is equally cute from most any angle, but I think it's safe to say  that the right side of her mug is more photogenic than her left .

Kitty, the blog animal         May 8, 2004

I have no idea where she learned "the raspberry", but when she strings a bunch of p's, b's, t's, f's, and h's together, she can manufacture 'Thppft', 'Pbththth', and sometimes even 'Thbbfpt'.   I was telling her that the British like to accompany the sound with hand jestures; such as patting the top of their head, or sticking their thumbs in their ears, but here's a picture of Kitty demonstrating her own version of a basic  raspberry.

Kitty, the blog animal         May 7, 2004

Kitty's summertime pattern is to head out for the day to places unknown.   In the '60's Nancy Sinatra popularized tall white patent-leather boots with her smash hit;  "these boots are made for walking"...

Kitty, the blog animal         May 6, 2004

Kitty is usually a good listener, but when I try to explain the wild and wooley ways of the world, her eyes quickly  glaze over...

Kitty, the blog animal         May 5, 2004

Kitty and I got a rise out of a silly episode of M.A.S.H. where, with a lot of sunshine, and a little bit of fertilizer, they were able to grow some fine ears of corn just in time for the Fourth-of-July, expecting that corn-on-the-cob would remind them of home.   But of course, Igor the cook got it all wrong and served the corn creamed.   A surprised and distraught Father Mulkahey wailed; "You didn't cream the corn did you?!!!", to which Igor threw up his hands in disgust and replied; "Well if you don't like it creamed, I'll give it to you on-the-cob next year".     corn on the cob

Kitty really doesn't earn all that much babysitting, and lawns for cutting around here are few and far between, so she has figured out that the best way to earn some summer spending cash is around-the-clock enforcement of the parking meter at the front door.

If it is true what they say about cleanliness being next to Godliness, Kitty just might qualify for sainthood.       rub a dub-dub

Kitty, the blog animal         May 2, 2004

At times Kitty is sharp and in focus, but other times she might not be...

It's unknown why dogs take so much delight in visiting Kittyland to snoop around, but they do.   Perhaps dogs can tell that a cat lives here and curiosity gets the best of them, but no matter what their intentions, dogs soon learn they've arrived at the wrong casa.     ferocious pestbouncer
